These past couple of weeks has been very sad and emotional with the hurricane Katrina, the devastation and the aftermath. I have always believed and trusted that our national government would be there with supplies and support in a heartbeat... to give back to the citizens that give to her...to witness the delayed response is shocking. To think about how it must have felt for all those people to be stranded on their rooftops without rescue for days on end is mind blowing and heartbreaking. My heart aches to see the suffering that continues in the disaster zones and I can’t help but see myself, my family and my friends in all the eyes of all the victims.... they are me... they are we.
What is apparent is that this is an incredible opportunity for being compassion in action and reaching beyond what is comfortable to help not only the people who so desperately need it but help grow our own hearts, our ability to love bigger and deeper. Human life is such a miracle and is so sacred.
Years ago my husband and I visited New Orleans. The energy of the land, its people and its history inspired me to write the song “Heaven”. Today I sat and cried thinking about the lyrics. The meaning and vibration of the song feels different today given what has happened and what is happening in there....”Why must we die to go to heaven? Why can’t heaven happen down here?” Heaven does happen down here when we choose to be one another’s angels, when we choose to be one another’s family and act from that place. Would you wait for days to send help to your own family? No. Is being an angel mean showing up when souls are in need? Yes. I pray that more people will begin to see and feel that we are each others angels...heaven is not a place... it is what we see when we are being love.
I am so grateful for all of you who come out to sing, meditate, and create sacred space with us. It is such a blessing and keeps us rooted in what is truly important...sharing love....being love. I look forward to sharing sacred space with many of you in Palm Springs and Idyllwild this weekend. God bless!

What a weekend! music: Sacred Sounds Radio- Wah!
mood: reflective
Aug. 12th, Seduction of Spirit seminar- We got out the door by 2:45 p.m. and didn't get to San Diego till 6:10 p.m. There was a lot of traffic and three stops along the way...one for the immune booster "Emer'gen-C" (I was feeling a little under), one for gas (oops...left the house without much in the tank) and a very much needed rest stop (Marti and Ongyie were laughing at me as I rushed to the "loo"...I begged them to stop) Our sound check was a little hectic...Kimo lost his guitar pick and there was the "lovely feedback" so we used every moment of available time before the doors opened. We played our more meditative songs during the dinner and then the "shakti" songs afterwards. It is always fun to expand out of the box and watch people dance and laugh. We had hoped to meet Deepak but he didn't join the dinner festivities. The closest we got to meeting him was when he drove past us in the parking lot...divine timing is everything. Doug Destefano saved the night taking on the role of "roadie" and Kimmiji helped with CD's and mailing list. Thank you so much you two for filling in and being a great ground support team! Also, we met some amazing people that night that we won't forget...and a big thank you to Jimmy for the food. Love and support was pouring out of the walls. We are so blessed.
Aug. 13th, Golden Bridge- was a lot of fun! Christian, our sound guy, was amazing...very giving, calm and bright even though he was coming down with flu like symptoms. What a beautiful soul! I finally got to meet Wynne Paris, who played before us...what a talent! Marti, Ongyie and I were up dancing to his joyous kirtan. Our set was short but high Shakti! A lot of energy was moving through us and the audience. Thank you to all who came out and helped to create a beautiful night! It was such a joy seeing all of your faces. I couldn't believe that some of you came as far as San Diego to share the night. We are so blessed! Thanks to Kimmiji and Gaia for being ground support and to Tim for making the great lyric handouts. The only two hick ups of the night were when Kimo's battery on his guitar pick-up died during the first song and later when ten CD's vanished into thin air (we still have our fingers crossed that the Golden Bridge folks will find them.) I point these out because there always seems to be an obstacle or more accurately what appears to be an obstacle that presents itself at each event we do....which gives me and the band the opportunity to be the love and the light we are singing about. We always seem to get the same teaching again and again...to be the love we sing about.
Love to you all!
Larisa

Thanks for coming out to Blissful Soul in Eagle Rock
music: Sacred Sounds Radio- The Singing Woman and Kim Robertson
mood: quiet... winding down
Thank you to everyone who came out to Blissful Soul on the 6th. We really enjoyed ourselves and loved watching you all dance with abandonment!! It's amazing the more you open...the more we open, the more we open...the more you open.
Cheryl, the owner of Blissful Soul, and hubby really made the space look beautiful and inviting. It was a trip playing out under the stars with the contrast of the buses rushing by. I was so moved by the new people we met that night...thank you for your enthusiasm! I look forward to seeing you all at future shows!
Tomorrow the band carpools down to San Diego to play for Deepak's "Seduction of Spirit" seminar. We are all looking forward to the carpool...getting to hang out and be with each other. Marti, in rehearsal tonight, brought up how fun it will be to roll down the windows of the car and scream out with joy. Life feels so alive and full doing what we love and loving what we do.
Love, love, love to all,
Larisa

Thank you Aaron for getting this new blog uploaded! I am so happy to have an opportunity to tune in with everyone who visits here and first and foremost to say thank you for being on this journey with me. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to sing about love in all its forms and to be surrounded by people who love to take that journey with me. You are an inspiration to me!
"Shakti Tribe" has been very busy lately. With the new release of our album "Reaching In" we have been playing out a lot...up and down the Southern California Coast meeting or reuniting with our soul family. Life is always changing and bringing with it gifts and challenges but being with all of you makes it so full and alive.
We have a lot of great shows coming up...Blissful Soul tonight, Golden Bridge, Depok's seminar, Stacey's "Abode." So many opportunities to gather the Guru... I love you all! Thank you!!
