October 8th-December 17th
music: Sacred Sounds Radio- Steve Gorn and Benji Wertheimer
Blessings everyone! Here's to a love and peace filled 2006!

I have soooo much catching up to do with you all. I can't believe so many months have passed since I have posted on this blog. I promise to dig back into it as I have heard from some of you that this is the way you stay connected to us.

Since October 6th we've sang and danced together in Idyllwild (Om Sweet Om), Sylmar (Tia Chucha's), Los Angeles (Mind, Body and Beyond Expo), Costa Mesa (Orange Coast Unitarian), Santa Monica (Regenesis Center), San Diego (Whole Being party), Joshua Tree (Institute of Mentalphysics), the Palisades (Swami Vishwananda kirtan and satsang), and Claremont (InnerWorks Wellness Center). The family keeps growing and growing and we feel so connected to all of you. Thank you so much for your love and support.

In December I came down with an intense flu. I was in bed for a week with a temperature that went as high as 104. We had to cancel all our gatherings that weekend because I could barely stand and the last thing I wanted to do was to give you all the flu. That was the first time I have ever had to cancel a concert due to illness. You were all with me that night and I could feel your prayers. Thank you to all of you who emailed me with your words of love, prayers and encouragement. I felt them deeply and know that they helped me to heal quickly.

I so look forward to our upcoming concerts and to the time we will sing, dance and celebrate light and love with one another again. Peace and love be with you.

September 23rd thru October 1st music: Sacred Sounds Radio- Wah! "Om Mani Padme Hum"

The Unity Church in Burbank (September 23rd)- Thank you David Barker for making that night happen!!! So many of our gatherings happen because one person is passionate about the music and wants to share it... so they book the venue, promote the show, get the space ready, manage the door, clean up afterwards and manage many other tiny details. David is one of those special angels that go above and beyond to totally support the band and the music. It makes sharing the music so much more fun with this kind of support! I can't say thank you enough. And I was privileged to meet some new beautiful faces that night that I will never forget. Thank you to all of you who helped to create a magical night! I had felt under the weather that morning and felt healed by all the love in the room.

yoga fuzion in La Jolla (September 29th)- First of all I have to say thank you to Mickel from Yemaya Productions for sponsoring our three nights in Orange County/San Diego area...what a beautiful job you did in creating and promoting these gatherings! And thank you Tim and Vidya for hosting us at your gorgeous studio. The energy in yoga fuzion was stunning. There were so many of you that we had met for the first time at the Whole Being Weekend..it was great to connect again. One of the most beautiful things I see happening at these gatherings is that the feeling of community...communing-in-unity is growing. I feel it growing within myself and can see it in all of you.

Heart Center/Paul and Amana's home in Laguna Beach (September 30th)- What a beautiful space with all of Paul's artwork. The paintings take my breath away...I had to bring home some prints for myself. My skirt ripped right before the show. I wasn't too worried about it but wanted a safety pin so I wouldn't worry about it ripping more and Amana jumped in and offered to sew it for me. Amana thank you for your kindness and generosity of spirit. The evening was created out of that generosity of spirit....the energy in the room was electric...the divine was very tangible...we were all so grateful.

Seaside Church in Encinitas (October 1st)- we were first booked at Shanti Yoga for this night and then Mickel found out that it had been double booked so she scrambled to find us a new location. What began as a breakdown turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Shanti Yoga is a beautiful space but is much smaller than the Seaside Church...the space that Mickel booked last minute. So much of the gathering wanted to dance and would have been crammed into Shanti Yoga. Everyone was able to spread out and be totally self-expressed. Sometimes the divine knows better than we do. And a big thanks to Greg for sitting in with us, adding extra energy and for bringing your speakers. You were an angel and brought such joy. Thank you to all of you who came out, sang, and opened your hearts, voices, and minds. I know we are creating heaven on earth when we do this together. Bless you!!!

Urban Yoga and the "Whole Being Weekend"

music: Sacred Sounds Radio- Thomas Barquee

September 10th and 11th- Wow!!!! What a powerful weekend it was thanks to all of you who came out to commune in the love and sweetness. It was full of emotion and celebration! Thank you Kristin for creating such a sacred space at Urban Yoga in Palm Springs. It was so great to see familiar beloved faces and to connect to new people who had never been to a live show before with us. There was so much love and connectedness in the room...the divine was so tangible!!! And thank you Robert for all your love and dedication to creating such a special weekend in Idyllwild. You folks at the Whole Being Weekend were off the charts with your energy and willingness to embrace the moment. We had so much fun with all of you. It was such a powerful way to spend September 11th...very healing and potent! Our tears, our joy is not just for ourselves but for the healing of the planet and her beings. What I realize with these shows, is that it's not just about sharing the music...it's about creating conscious community and sharing love! Thank you for all of your love! I am so blessed to meet and connect with all of you. I posted quite a few pictures from Urban Yoga and the "Whole Being Weekend". I hope you enjoy them! Love to you!!!

Meditating on Heaven
These past couple of weeks has been very sad and emotional with the hurricane Katrina, the devastation and the aftermath. I have always believed and trusted that our national government would be there with supplies and support in a heartbeat... to give back to the citizens that give to her...to witness the delayed response is shocking. To think about how it must have felt for all those people to be stranded on their rooftops without rescue for days on end is mind blowing and heartbreaking. My heart aches to see the suffering that continues in the disaster zones and I can’t help but see myself, my family and my friends in all the eyes of all the victims.... they are me... they are we.

What is apparent is that this is an incredible opportunity for being compassion in action and reaching beyond what is comfortable to help not only the people who so desperately need it but help grow our own hearts, our ability to love bigger and deeper. Human life is such a miracle and is so sacred.

Years ago my husband and I visited New Orleans. The energy of the land, its people and its history inspired me to write the song “Heaven”. Today I sat and cried thinking about the lyrics. The meaning and vibration of the song feels different today given what has happened and what is happening in there....”Why must we die to go to heaven? Why can’t heaven happen down here?” Heaven does happen down here when we choose to be one another’s angels, when we choose to be one another’s family and act from that place. Would you wait for days to send help to your own family? No. Is being an angel mean showing up when souls are in need? Yes. I pray that more people will begin to see and feel that we are each others angels...heaven is not a place... it is what we see when we are being love.

I am so grateful for all of you who come out to sing, meditate, and create sacred space with us. It is such a blessing and keeps us rooted in what is truly important...sharing love....being love. I look forward to sharing sacred space with many of you in Palm Springs and Idyllwild this weekend. God bless!

What a weekend! music: Sacred Sounds Radio- Wah!
mood: reflective

Aug. 12th, Seduction of Spirit seminar- We got out the door by 2:45 p.m. and didn't get to San Diego till 6:10 p.m. There was a lot of traffic and three stops along the way...one for the immune booster "Emer'gen-C" (I was feeling a little under), one for gas (oops...left the house without much in the tank) and a very much needed rest stop (Marti and Ongyie were laughing at me as I rushed to the "loo"...I begged them to stop) Our sound check was a little hectic...Kimo lost his guitar pick and there was the "lovely feedback" so we used every moment of available time before the doors opened. We played our more meditative songs during the dinner and then the "shakti" songs afterwards. It is always fun to expand out of the box and watch people dance and laugh. We had hoped to meet Deepak but he didn't join the dinner festivities. The closest we got to meeting him was when he drove past us in the parking lot...divine timing is everything. Doug Destefano saved the night taking on the role of "roadie" and Kimmiji helped with CD's and mailing list. Thank you so much you two for filling in and being a great ground support team! Also, we met some amazing people that night that we won't forget...and a big thank you to Jimmy for the food. Love and support was pouring out of the walls. We are so blessed.

Aug. 13th, Golden Bridge- was a lot of fun! Christian, our sound guy, was amazing...very giving, calm and bright even though he was coming down with flu like symptoms. What a beautiful soul! I finally got to meet Wynne Paris, who played before us...what a talent! Marti, Ongyie and I were up dancing to his joyous kirtan. Our set was short but high Shakti! A lot of energy was moving through us and the audience. Thank you to all who came out and helped to create a beautiful night! It was such a joy seeing all of your faces. I couldn't believe that some of you came as far as San Diego to share the night. We are so blessed! Thanks to Kimmiji and Gaia for being ground support and to Tim for making the great lyric handouts. The only two hick ups of the night were when Kimo's battery on his guitar pick-up died during the first song and later when ten CD's vanished into thin air (we still have our fingers crossed that the Golden Bridge folks will find them.) I point these out because there always seems to be an obstacle or more accurately what appears to be an obstacle that presents itself at each event we do....which gives me and the band the opportunity to be the love and the light we are singing about. We always seem to get the same teaching again and again...to be the love we sing about.

Love to you all!
Larisa

Thanks for coming out to Blissful Soul in Eagle Rock

music: Sacred Sounds Radio- The Singing Woman and Kim Robertson
mood: quiet... winding down

Thank you to everyone who came out to Blissful Soul on the 6th. We really enjoyed ourselves and loved watching you all dance with abandonment!! It's amazing the more you open...the more we open, the more we open...the more you open.

Cheryl, the owner of Blissful Soul, and hubby really made the space look beautiful and inviting. It was a trip playing out under the stars with the contrast of the buses rushing by. I was so moved by the new people we met that night...thank you for your enthusiasm! I look forward to seeing you all at future shows!

Tomorrow the band carpools down to San Diego to play for Deepak's "Seduction of Spirit" seminar. We are all looking forward to the carpool...getting to hang out and be with each other. Marti, in rehearsal tonight, brought up how fun it will be to roll down the windows of the car and scream out with joy. Life feels so alive and full doing what we love and loving what we do.

Love, love, love to all,
Larisa

mood: grateful

Thank you Aaron for getting this new blog uploaded! I am so happy to have an opportunity to tune in with everyone who visits here and first and foremost to say thank you for being on this journey with me. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to sing about love in all its forms and to be surrounded by people who love to take that journey with me. You are an inspiration to me!

"Shakti Tribe" has been very busy lately. With the new release of our album "Reaching In" we have been playing out a lot...up and down the Southern California Coast meeting or reuniting with our soul family. Life is always changing and bringing with it gifts and challenges but being with all of you makes it so full and alive.

We have a lot of great shows coming up...Blissful Soul tonight, Golden Bridge, Depok's seminar, Stacey's "Abode." So many opportunities to gather the Guru... I love you all! Thank you!!
